Betty was originally rescued from New Holland, PA, wich is the absolute worse auction house east of the Mississippi. The woman who saved her brought her here on July 6, 2001. She was still underweight and bore the marks of her past captor. She had been used very hard and had the harness marks so evident with PA Amish horses. She was depressed and her head hung. We knew we had our work cut out for us.

On September 5, 2001, she was placed with Annie and Linda, who also have John and Merrylegs. She was gaining weight and appeared much happier; then in July 2002 she took a turn for the worse.
She was bloated and lethargic and nothing could make her feel better. The vets, Linda, Chris and Annie tried and tried but to no avail. On July 31st she was laid to rest and a necropsy was performed. Without exaggeration, she had fifty gallons of blood in her, which was the cause for the bloating.

In addition, her cervix was fused and a lot of scar tissue was evident indicating some very bad physical abuse. We don't condemn all people for this autrocity but the ones that did this to this poor unforuntate animal should be drawn and quartered.

It makes us sick that people can do this to another living being and they claim to be closer to God. If I were God, I would cry when I saw my wonderful animals tortured like this. There is absolutely no excuse for this.
