HORSE Rescue and Sanctuary
Broadway Biz
Broadway Biz was abandoned at a local boarding stable and was brought to the Rescue by a farrier named Paul. Paul knew of this horse and didn't want to see him go to auction so he trailered him out here to the Rescue and told us that he would do his feet including corrective shoeing for as long as Broady was here. Broady came in underweight and his feet were a mess. His feet have been done once by Paul but it will be awhile before he is sound again. Broady is a perfect gentleman and loves to be scratched and rubbed all over. He is only fifteen years old so we think he will make someone a wonderful first horse. He should be available for placement by this summer.
On March 14. 2004, a very special lady came into Broady's life. Bonda started volunteering at the Rescue and eventually fell in love with Broady, even though she knew his health was not good. She took him home and until August 2, 2004, spent many pleasurable hours grooming and talking with Broady. As fate can sometimes be very cruel, Broady's mistreatment in the past caught up with him. His left front hoof was attached only by a thread of tissue and he had no circulation in that foot. In addition, after careful examination two tumors the size of oranges were in his airway. It was probably the most difficult decision that Bonda had to make in a long time but Broady was humanely euthanized on August 2. He was buried laying flat out like he loved to do. This was one of the sweetest horses to ever come to the rescue and the staff, volunteers and Bonda all miss him terribly.
