The vets at LedgewoodEquine Clinic in Webster, NY
did all they could humanly do to save this wonderful horse but the deck was stacked against him.
We got him from Marilyn Hondorp in NJ who had saved him from the track.
Linda Holm and Nora spent months working with him on learning to be a trail horse and he loved it and adapted quickly.
He was due to go to his new adoptive home on Sunday April 27th but he never made it.
The surgeons working on him told us that he had yards of intestine missing and his illium which is at the beginning of the intestine was gone as well indicating that he had colic surgery in the past and we were never informed nor was Marilyn.
He was only ten years old.
The day before his surgery he went for a short trail ride with his new dad.
Logan was relaxed and enjoying what he was doing.
The next day after coming back from Linda's house we noticed him laying down in the pasture.
He got up and laid down again.
We knew something was wrong and suspected colic immediately.
Our vet came out and tubed him with mineral oil and water and gave him 10 cc's of banamine which should have relieved the pain.
He was in severe distress and the decision was made to rush him to the hospital an hour and a half away where he was rushed into surgery.
He survived the surgery but two days later he was in such pain we decided to humanely put him down.
Every volunteer that ever met him was shocked by his sudden loss.
He was a great horse and we will all miss him.
Goodbye our friend.
