Rosie came to the Rescue in 1998. She was in a horse camp and the season was over so Rosie was being shipped to auction and most likely slaughter. She is about fourteen hands and is about twenty years old.
We brought Rosie with us on our move from California to New York in 1999 along with Champagne and Breeze. Originally, she was meant for our granddaughter, Sarah, but Sarah didn't show much interest so Rosie was placed in Sanctuary.
After Sandy died in 2002, Rosie became the pasture mate for Free but then we lost Free on August 5, 2003 and Rosie has now adopted old Springer as a pasture mate.
On January 1, 2004, we found that Springer had passed away during the night. Rosie had lost yet another friend. When we brought in Cookie, the pony, we decided that Rosie would have a forever friend and hopefully, since Cookie is only nine years old, we can keep our promise to her. She is now so attached to him that she freaks out when he is out of sight. In addition to losing so many friends over the years, Rosie has come down with Cushings and foundered in 2004. Her Cushings is now under control with medication and she is looking like her old self.
