Miss Vixen arrived at the Rescue in August 2003. She is a twenty year old dark bay Thoroughbred mare. She has been ridden and does very well in English and western but more so in English. She stands about 16.0-16.1 hands. She came in with some open sores on her legs but those have healed nicely.
She is now available for placement and tends to be an alpha mare in the herd.
This is a recent picture of Vixen. She is being ridden on the trails weekly and additional work is being done in the round pen.
Vixen has been placed with a wonderful family in the Buffalo. The barn and inside stalls are immaculate and she and Zolo has fifteen acres of pasture to play in. She has been here awhile but it was sure worth the wait. When she first went to her new home, Debbie thought she might be colicking. Vixen would roll, get up and roll again. This went on for several minutes and everyone came to the conclusion that she was relishing the deep pile of shavings in her stall.
